Poppy Cakes from The Cambridges

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have shown their support for Poppy Appeal, the annual fundraising effort for the U.K. Armed Forces’ community, this year by baking these delicious poppy cakes which were delivered last weekend to the Royal British Legion’s Norfolk care home.

The Royal British Legion shared this photo of their home-baked goods, and it was then retweeted by Kensington Palace. The caption read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family have shown their support for our #PoppyAppeal this year by baking these delicious poppy cakes which were delivered to our care home in Norfolk.”

Then, The Royal British Legion posted a picture of two people at their care home in Norfolk enjoying the Cambridges’ cupcakes. I’m sure they were all happy when they found out who baked the cakes.

Remembrance Day, a big date in the royal calendar, takes place next month but it’s still unclear what it will look like in the current Covid restrictions.

The Queen will attend a “closed door” service before watching from a balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, alongside the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall.

Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince William are expected to lay poppy wreaths at the Cenotaph alongside a small number of armed forces veterans and international leaders.

Despite the changes to the official services, there are still lots of way you can mark the day and remember.

The charity’s website states: “Like so many things this year, the Poppy Appeal has had to adapt to the threat of Covid-19. We’re calling on the public to support us like never before, because every poppy counts.
